It was Monica’s bachelorette night. She along with her girlfriends decided to try out that new pub which everyone was talking about. Apparently, all the handsome and rich are known to frequent it. Monica was so excited! She was finally marrying the man of her dreams, just the kind of guy she was hoping to spend her life with since she was an eight-year-old.
She wore the new black sequined backless dress she bought for this occasion. All decked up, Monica met her friends below her apartment and they left for the pub in a cab. The pub was everything the girls had imagined. It had an old world charm along with the modern urban setting. The interiors were lit with red lights, which gave it a dreamy sinful feeling.
Already smitten by the pub, the girls started with their party with plenty of cocktails. Monica was having a gala time. She had known those girls and loved them since they were all in kindergarten together. Monica knew those girls would keep her from doing anything stupid after getting drunk just before her marriage.
It was just when she was sipping on her eighth cocktail of the night, she saw him. He was wearing a suave black suit and had stubble all over his cheeks. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him as he stared back at her. A sudden rush of feelings washed through her entire body. He slowly approached her and said her “hi” in a husky voice. Monica was done for good. She stumbled while getting up from her seat as she was about to shake his hand.
Though she was not a virgin, Monica had been saving herself till after she married Jake (her fiancé). She thought that this would make their marriage special. But seeing that guy at the pub, all those thoughts and theories went out of her window. She knew she could never cheat on Jake, no matter how drunk she was. So, she ran away from the pub and guy, took a cab and went straight to Jake’s.
Jake was surprised to see her, especially when she jumped on him like a wild cat. Jake didn’t take much time in getting there where Monica already was. They collapsed on the bed as they both started undressing each other. They were both very much into it. But things didn’t last that long, much to Monica’s horror. Jake was having a hard time trying to keep his parts straight. He wasn’t aware that he suffered from an Erectile Dysfunction.
Both laid on the bed with horror struck expressions when Jake tried to reason, “ But this never happens when I masturbate while watching porn…”
Whether porn interferes with one’s sex life, is a much-speculated topic. From porn casting a doom spell on your sex life to putting your sexual health at risk and to even enslaving you, it is being deemed as not only morally wrong but also, unhealthy.
But are the above accusations really true? Can porn really harm your sexual intimacy?
According to studies, men who masturbated to porn instead of having sex with a partner have higher chances of suffering from Erectile Dysfunction. Another study suggests that watching excessive porn can lead to sexual anorexia, an about sex that limits intimacy.
Keeping these facts aside, sex experts have found out that people who are into watching porn regularly need strong visual signals to get aroused. They might not even feel any physiological reward from the act of sex.
However, it is a very subjective matter and basically, boils down to the content one wishes to watch. It is mostly the people, situations, and habits that can turn watching porn unhealthy. When people make watching porn their priority, over having sex with a partner, it could mean that the person has become accustomed to a specific kind of stimulus to get excited. When he has the real deal, the same kind of stimulus isn’t experienced. This can turn out to be stressful and cause sexual anxiety.
Moreover, if porn is altering your sexual expectations and making it hard for you to orgasm in the real life, it is definitely a warning sign.
People who think porn or masturbating is a morally low act, it can be particularly distressing for them. It can even increase their feelings of guilt.
According to a few studies and researches in the field of Neurosciences, it has been found out that porn may not be addictive like other addictions. Which means, the brain of a usual ‘porn-addict’ is not like those who are suffering from drug or alcohol addiction.
When practised in limitation, porn has been seen to add a lot of excitement to the bedroom. It can increase your willingness to try out new things. Porn also has the ability to help one explore his/her sexuality.
A proper diagnosis of porn addiction also doesn’t really exist. However, if you’re too much into watching it and it starts to affect your day to day activities, your relationships, your work, and priorities, you should go see a doctor.
